It’s My Birthday!!

I hope you all had a fantastic and safe Thanksgiving and are out finding some amazing deals! Today is MY BIRTHDAY!

Today, I join club 33 and while I wish that meant access to the exclusive club, it actually just means I am another year into my 30’s. I definitely do not mind being in my 30’s, these years have definitely been full of self discovery and I am excited to find out what else there is in store for me.

While 32 was a year filled with memorable moments, laughter, love and joy. I am so excited to see what 33 looks like!




Friday Feelings!

We made it to Friday!

I am always so happy when this day finally comes around because it means I finally get to relax a little bit over the weekend! Last night was date night number 2 for the week and Damiean and we enjoyed a double date night with my sister and her boyfriend watching the Coyotes Game at Talking Stick Arena. Tomorrow, my middle sister and I will be at the farmers market and Sunday will hopefully be another great day at the gym.

Speaking of the gym, I wanted to share with you an experience I had recently during my first yoga class in awhile. I didn’t tell you about this last week because I wanted to take some time to explore exactly why I was feeling the way I was and reacting the way that I did.

If you have ever taken a yoga class, you know that you get the opportunity to connect with yourself and become more aware of yourself and exactly how you are feeling.

For me, this was a moment of self relization. I am almost sad to admit that my job often makes me feel anxious and stressed to the point that I sometimes experience anxiety attacks that wake me from a dead sleep. Not a great way to live. While I cannot just up and quit my job, I am trying to be more mindful and aware of easing that stress and being in control of my emotions. One way I was hoping to aide in this was by going to a yoga class. A few years ago I was attending yoga/pilates twice a week and felt amazing.

While the class on Sunday did in fact make me feel less stressed and loose, I also felt all the feels while practicing! Within the first 5 minutes we were instructed to really get in touch with ourselves and be aware of how we were feeling.

I started to cry. I literally was wiping tears off my face and the realization hit me that the reason I ignore feelings and trudge through the stress of my days is because if I stop for a second I might start crying and not be able to stop. This kind of hit me like a bus and I set the intention that I was going to try harder to acknowledge feelings and deal with them as they come instead of pushing them away and choosing to ignore them.

While thankful Thursday is not a regular occurrence here on the blog, since it is November, I figured I would share with you some things I am extremely thankful for now and everyday!

My Family!

  • First and foremost on my list, I am thankful for my family.While we might butt heads sometimes and get on each others nerves, I am always grateful that they have my back and are there for me at the end of the day! Plus, we all love doing Disney together so I always have a travel buddy!


My Amazing Boyfriend!

  • While I do feel that Damiean is family to me, he deserves his own mention. I am thankful for him because he supports me without question and loves me unconditionally everyday. I am so grateful to have him to lean on when life gets tough and to always know at the end of the day that I am loved so much!

My Friends!

  • I will always be thankful that I met a majority of my best friends so early on in life. I have been lucky enough to call my best friend, my best friend for almost 30 years! Even though our lives are ever changing, we are always able to pick up exactly where we left off.


My Health!

  • While I may not be the healthiest person the planet, I am thankful for the ability to be healthy enough to go on new adventures, spend time with family and friends and run half marathons.


  • This one is mostly just for fun but I am thankful for coffee! Especially holiday cup season at Starbucks!

Wicked Half Marathon

Happy Wednesday!

We are finally half way through the week! Last night was date night number one for this week for Damiean and I. We try to set go out of our way to set aside at least one night per week that is dedicated to spending time with each other and either go out to dinner or cook dinner together at home. This one was spent out for a nice dinner and setting up some new decor I bought for the bedroom. Is anyone else loving the grey and white color scheme right now? I will be sure to show you some pictures soon. Date night number two for us this week will be the Coyotes game on Thursday with my sister and her boyfriend.

Today, I am sharing with you my race review of the Wicked Half Marathon.

My sister and I ran this race on Sunday, October 28th at the Rio Vista Park. This event is hosted by Startline Racing and they always do a great job putting together a wonderful race day.

We started our day at around 6:00 with a pb&j and some chocolate milk before jumping in the car and heading to packet pick up. One thing I do love about local races is the same day packet pick up. It went seamlessly and we were able to spend some time pinning on our race numbers and warming up our muscles for the race. There were just under 200 people participating in the entire race day (1 mile run, 4k and half marathon) so it was a pretty easy going race considering we have participated in the Run Disney races consisting of thousands of runners.

This was an out and back course so it was nice to not have to worry about bag checks or how you were going to make it back to your car once the race ended. Another perk of this course is that it was flat, there is little to no incline throughout the entire thing.

The first few miles of this race flew by! Which is definitely nice when you are trying to reach double digits as quickly as possible. It felt like we made it through 5 miles in the blink of an eye. Sydnee and I did notice that the race markers were a little bit off and the further we went the harder it was to measure where you were in regards to distance signs VS watch distance.

Unfortunately, no matter the training you put into a race, you can never tell how race day is going to go and I woke up with a headache that continued to get worse as the race went on. Since the morning was somewhat cool, breathing through my nose bothered my sinuses even more and running made my head throb. I pushed through intervals as best I could but eventually had to settle on a fast walking pace since it was the only way to stop my head from feeling like it was going to explode.

Thankfully, mile 8 was the turnaround point and I had never been so happy to be headed back toward the finish line. The rest of this race was just warm and I had sent my sister on ahead of me around mile 6. I will say it was mentally tough to make it through the rest of the race by myself but also push through the throbbing that made me want to stop totally. At mile 11, I called Damiean to let him know that I definitely needed some words of encouragement to get me through the rest of this race. Luckily, he delivered and I pushed on and kept going. I got a bit emotional around mile 12 and when I passed it by, there were some tears in my eyes as I whispered to myself that I can do this and have been through harder races.  Finally, FINALLY, the finish line was in site and I broke into a bit of a run just to make it there faster!

I was so thankful to cross that line, get my medal and finally be able to take off my shoes! My sister had finished a bit in front of me and was already relaxing and enjoying her Powerade and checking out her medal. It was a super cute coffin with a skeleton inside!

Another awesome surprise at the end of my race was that Damiean had come to show his support and congratulate me and Syd on our race.

Have I mentioned to you how awesome it is to have such a great support system?!

After we changed into our Oofos and made our way to the car, Sydnee and I decided to pick up some Panda Express orange chicken and head home. However, since we purchased some awesome Pumpkin Spice themed running shirts from Raw Threads, we also stopped to pick up a Pumpkin Spice Frappucino from Starbucks for pictures!

A good rest was in store after and I finally did break down and take some pain relievers which did help with my headache.

This race was awesome and I would definitely recommend it if you are local to Arizona and looking for a Halloween themed race.

Our next two races are the Run, Run Rudolph Half Marathon and the Rock-N-Roll Half Marathon.

Monday Catch-Up!

Happy Monday!

I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend. I finally pulled out my Disneyland Christmas mug from last year!



I am happy to say that I am feeling rested and recharged after a great weekend. I feel like I sound like a broken record apologizing for being gone and always having the best of intentions to consistently keep up with the blog. However, I am doing my best and will continue to strive to keep up to date and working hard to get my blog to a point that this is my full time job ( a big goal for 2019!).

I am quite a few things to catch you up on and will be posting some review posts on the blog this week to share with you what I’ve been up to!

As far as this weekend goes, since it was pretty uneventful, I thought we could start there!

I will back track a little and tell you that last week was a bit long and for some reason work has been intense and stressful lately. We are in the “busy season” and hopefully winding down a little bit soon so for now I am trying to keep my head down and push through the tough days. Since my middle sisters birthday was on Friday, the week and weekend were full of celebrations. On Thursday, we celebrated with Damiean, his brother, my sisters boyfriend and my sister by going to dinner, enjoying some delicious cake and then playing a few rounds of Pictionary and Catch Phrase. Friday was her actual birthday but since it was still a work day, we decided to celebrate for real on Saturday.

We started the day by visiting the Pinners Conference in Scottsdale which was amazing and like exploring a real life Pinterest page. That night, we went to Red Lobster followed by cake and presents.

Sunday was a day of rest and relaxation. Sydnee and I have 3 month memberships for Mountainside Fitness that we purchased at Sam’s Club but we wanted to take advantage of the 5 day free pass first. Since we have been tossing around the idea of yoga for awhile, we decided why wait! We got there a few minutes early and got all signed up.

Let me tell you, the Mountainside Fitness near my parents is AMAZING! The facility itself is really impressive and has everything we have been looking for and as for the yoga class we took….it was fantastic! I have not felt so relaxed and stress-free in a very long time. I am hoping that the calm lasts through the week.

Best of Intentions

Hi Guys!

I hope you are having a wonderful Thursday! It has been a whirlwind of a week. I got home from California on Monday and flipped my suitcase so that I can head back out of town on Friday with Damiean.

I am so sad that I missed posting for a few days since I started out October strong and with the best of intentions on posting everyday of the week.

Unfortunately, I am learning to deal with a new normal with another chronic illness. I have suffered from asthma and allergies for a large majority of my life, over 30 years to be exact and have found a way to live my life as normal as possible. Recently, I was diagnosed with eczema. For those of you who have not experienced eczema before, let me tell you, it is enough to drive you crazy!

I had never experienced a flare up before and was completely caught off guard by this diagnosis, mostly because things seemed to go downhill quickly once it was diagnosed. What started as a really REALLY itchy and scaly rash on my left shin turned into a sever infection that required a major bout of medicine to heal. I had an allergic reaction to the medication I was put on and ever since then have had new scaly rashes develop in different areas of my body. After numerous trips to the doctor and trial and errors of medicines and creams, I think (hope!) that I have found a good balance that helps alleviate the screaming that takes plus under my skin.

My doctor did let me know that it is important not to scratch as that can lead to infections and complications. I was unprepared for just how itchy and intolerable some moments would be. If you have ever had chicken pox or poison ivy, it is a lot like that. The itch just will not stop sometimes and it has been enough to drive my crazy!

Another factor that messes with my head is that it makes me feel isolated in a way. It is tough to explain at work that the rash isn’t contagious when it looks terrible. It is hard to hear that I just need to stop scratching from family members when they have no idea that it feels like my skin is on fire and scratching is the only relief. I just don’t feel normal. It is new to me to have to warn people that I am sticky with cream before they go in for a hug or to have to reassure them repeatedly that no, I for sure am not contagious.

My go to joke right now is that October is Eczema awareness  month and what a great time to become aware that I have it!

All joking aside I am diligently trying my hardest to get through this flare up and return back to my new normal. Thank you for your patience and support!


Thursday Thoughts

Hey Everyone,

I apologize for the late post again this week. I am, unfortunately, still dealing with some health issues that took me away from work again today and have left me feeling exhausted.

Tonight’s post is going to be short and simple.

Disney Halloween Scavenger Hunt

Good Morning!

With the countdown on until my next Disney vacation ( 2 days!!!), my sister and I decided it might be fun to put together an easy little scavenger hunt for ourselves and all of you! Sydnee also has an amazing Fall Bucket List up on her website that you should definitely check out, here!

We participated in the Easter Egg Hunt this past March and had such a wonderful time that we thought a Halloween themed hunt would be perfect!

Chocolate Cookies- N – Scream Recipe

Happy Tasty Tuesday!

This post is up late today because it was crazy busy at work and I am still actively up making these cookies! Wednesday night’s my sister who owns an amazing bakery, Cierra’s Bake Shoppe , sells cookies at a local Farmers Market. I love to bake so I decided to whip up a batch of my Chocolate Cookies – N – Scream cookies to sell along with all her other delicious treats. While I was baking, I thought with Halloween quickly approaching, you might be looking for the perfect cookie to take along to a party of enjoy around the house.

These cookies are amazing and the perfect balance of chocolate and vanilla in almost every bite!

Chocolate Cookies- N – Scream

  • 1 Cup Butter ( Sweet Cream, Salted)
  • 3/4 Cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2/3 Cup Brown Sugar (Packed)
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Tsp. Vanilla
  • 2 1/2 Cups Flour
  • 2/3 Cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 1 Tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/4 Tsp Salt
  • Cookies N’ Cream M&M’s ( 1 Bag )
  • 1/2 Cup White Chocolate Chips


  1. Mix dry ingredients together and set aside
  2. Cream butter and sugars together until smooth
  3. Mix eggs and vanilla into butter and sugar mixture
  4. Fold in dry ingredients
  5. Roll Dough into a ball


6. Mix in M&M’s and white chocolate chips

Date Night Ideas- October

Happy Monday!

I hope all of you are having a great day so far. My Starbucks app is still currently down but I am hoping to have a cup of coffee in hand in a few hours!

I think this weekend was one of the shortest I have had lately but it was a very full weekend! On Saturday, I spent some time cleaning and sorting through some paperwork on my desk that has been piling up. After that Damiean and I ventured out for lunch and wound up driving around for a little while just enjoying each others company. We are planning a trip in 2 weeks up to Flagstaff so we were looking over hotels and I was brainstorming packing since it will be quite a bit colder up there and we will be outside for a majority of Saturday while we are there.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that most of Sunday morning was spent on the treadmill running my 13 mile long run! It felt good but my hips are feeling it today!

Since one of the reasons Damiean and I are heading up north in a few weeks is to celebrate our 3 1/2 year anniversary (not that he would admit that is what we are doing) I thought I would share with you today some of my favorite date night or day date ideas for October. Some of these ideas are good all year long while others, at least in Arizona, are October specific.

  1. The Arizona State Fair

Every year in October, the Arizona State Fair rolls into town. While I have not yet gone this year, Damiean and I do try to get there each year. While it can be pricey, there are often times you can find deals regarding bringing canned food or after a certain time of day.

One of Damiean’s favorite times to go is on days where you can get the fair’s version of the “Fast Pass” and skip the lines. While it is nice to not have to wait in line, I am not a huge fan of a majority of fair rides so my options are somewhat limited. Aside from the food, one of the best things about the fair is being able to just spend time with your sweetie and walk through the exhibits.

2. Haunted House

I will preface this by saying that I am a fraidy cat! I do not like knowing things are hiding up ahead of me ready to jump out and scare me. However, each year we go to at least one Haunted House and I pretend to be the tiniest bit brave. The one thing that makes it more fun for Damiean is making me go first, which I hate! But I will admit after it is all said and done I had fun.

3. Pumpkin Carving

During the month of October, I love getting ready for Halloween. Therefore, one of my favorite dates is the pumpkin patch or simply heading to the grocery store to pick up pumpkins to carve at home. One of my favorite things to do while carving pumpkins is turn on Hocus Pocus in the back ground and just enjoy feeling like a kid again.

4. The Zoo

Since the weather is finally cooling down in October, it is always nice to finally be able to go outside and enjoy each other’s company. The zoo is great because you can wander around and explore together. A few of my favorite zoo’s in Arizona are- The Phoenix Zoo, The Wildlife World Zoo and the Heritage Park Zoological Society (Prescott).  If you haven’t visited the Heritage Park location yet, I would highly recommend it! Damiean and I went up there to zipline and had a ton of fun.

5. Head Up North

This time of year it is always wonderful to not only get away but also explore Arizona in cooler temperatures. Damiean and I love venturing up to Sedona, Prescott and the surrounding areas for a quick get away on the weekends. It is nice during October because the leaves are changing and the temperatures are quickly dropping.

One additional idea is to just go out for coffee. Sometimes, it is easy to forget that the simple things are sometimes the best things in life. It is so easy to get disconnected and out of sync when life is crazy so I would highly recommend just sitting down, grabbing a cup of coffee and talking to each other.
