3 Ingredient Mickey Shaped Dog Treats

Happy Thursday!! How is your day going so far?

Mine started off pretty early with a Dunkin Pumpkin coffee and packing! I still have to make it through the workday but after that Damiean and I are hitting the road and heading to California. I know I was just there but I seriously just love traveling to the point that I would happily do it every single weekend! I guess that is part of why I became a travel agent on the side πŸ˜‰

Since we are going out of town and leaving behind a furry family member, I decided to whip up some homemade dog treats. To start with I had to play with a few different recipes and find one that I liked enough to share with you. After trying a few different combinations, this one seemed to have the easiest amount of ingredients and a good consistency that the puppy dog seemed to enjoy. A big bonus is that tow of the ingredients are cinnamon and pumpkin, so the whole kitchen smelled like fall!

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 Cup Pumpkin Puree
  • 1 1/4 Cup Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1/4 Tsp Cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350*
  2. Combine all ingredients in one bowl and mix until it forms a ball. ** I started out using a whisk, switched to a fork and ultimately wound up using my hands to mix the dough as it was just easier!
  3. Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. Using a scoop or your hands, drop balls of dough onto the lined baking sheet.
  5. Using a fork coated with either flour or cooking spray, press down on the dough to flatten out. You can either do this once or do it twice in different directions to add a crisscross pattern on the top.** If you are looking to make these into Mickey shaped treats, you will need to roll two smaller balls of dough and press them into the base to form the ears. You may need to pinch a little to make sure the ears stay on during baking.
  6. Bake for 18-20 minutes.
  7. Flip over and bake for an additional 8-10 minutes or longer depending on how crispy you are looking to make them.
  8. Leave treats on the pan and let cool completely.
  9. Serve!

**These treats can be stored for up to 5 days outside of the fridge/freezer in an airtight container. You can also store them in the fridge for a few weeks or in the freezer for a few months!

This makes between 30-40 treats depending on size and shape utilized.
