Weekend Recap 10/4-10/6
Happy Monday!
Why do the weekends go by so quickly? I don’t know what it is about the “holiday season” (October-January) that make the weekends feel like they fly by? Maybe it is the hustle and bustle of trying to squeeze in as many family oriented activities as possible? Maybe it is the fact that it gets darker sooner? I wish that I had an answer so that I could figure out a way to slow things down a bit!
Anyways, how are you today? I hope that even if your weekend felt short that it was still wonderful!
My weekend was filled with a variety of different things but I am happy to say that I got quite a bit done and am excited for a lot of things that are upcoming both outside of the blog and for the blog! I am really happy to announce that I am partnering with the Spooktacular Balloon Festival again this year and will be having a giveaway soon. Be sure to be on the lookout for that post a little bit later in the month. I also will be doing a giveaway of those amazing straws that everyone is always asking me about on Instagram (there may be an added surprise in that giveaway as well!) With that little tease, let’s go back in time and revisit this past weekend.
Friday was a hectic-ish day at work and after a long week I was happy to head home and relax a little. Damiean and I hemmed and hawed about going out to dinner but since both of us were exhausted we decided that a romantic meal over fast food burgers sounded like the better option. While that might not sound romantic to some, it was nice to just relax together at home and not have to get all dressed up again and be grumpy having to wait at a restaurant! Once we finished dinner we hung out together while he played a game and I started reading a new book I purchased. I know, I know… I said no more books! But! I had previously read the description of this book and couldn’t stop thinking about it. It is three stories in one book and I have just finished the first story. It is a somewhat predictable fiction book but it has the romance and light heartedness I was looking for in an easy read. I have been reading a lot of self-improvement type books for awhile so it was nice to venture out into something different.
Around 10:00 it started to feel like midnight so I headed to bed for the night dreaming of the frosted Italian cookies from the book!
Saturday morning was slow. I didn’t join my sister at the farmers market this weekend so I was able to sleep in quite a bit. Since I am still “recovering” from Strep Throat and taking meds I decided to take it easy and enjoy a relaxing day. After enjoying a leisurely breakfast, I started laundry and spruced up the house. While I enjoyed my second cup of coffee I brainstormed some ideas for dinner this week and put together an outline of things I wanted to accomplish on the blog.
Next, I headed over to my parents house to spend some time together and enjoy a nice family dinner. On my way there I stopped by Wal-Mart to pick up some blogging props for some pictures I had in mind. Does anyone else ever feel like no matter where they go in the store, someone ALWAYS has to come down that aisle? No matter how empty it was when I got there, for whatever reason 3-5 people, usually with carts had to come down there as well. If you saw my Instagram, you’ll know that Wal-Mart already has almost all of their Christmas stuff up! While I do LOVE Christmas, it is still in the 90’s here in Arizona, so it does not feel much like Fall let alone Christmas!
One item I did see as I was wondering around was in the ice cream section. They had a pumpkin spice latte flavor, pumpkin pie flavor and a peppermint flavor! All of these are by Dryers and I am thinking next time I stop by I may need to pick up one of these to try. How delicious would the peppermint be in a chocolate dipped cone?
The rest of the day was spent hanging out and watching Halloween Wars with my mom and sister.
Sunday’s are always tough because I want to sleep in but also don’t want to ruin my schedule for the new week. I got up around 8:15 and decided to run a few miles. Since Fall racing season is starting and I have a race in about 3 weeks, I figured it was a good idea! Anyone else have upcoming races? Now it is finally getting “cooler” outside in the morning here, it is finally time to get out there and run on the streets.
Once those were finished, Damiean and I ventured out to run some errands and pick up some necessities. Anyone else always feel like they are the store? I swear for it just being the two of us, we always need something for the house! One of the most important stops of the day was for coffee, since Damiean decided he didn’t want to join me for that adventure, Sarah rode along.
Once I was home and settled I started baking for an upcoming blog post and meal prepping for this week.
While I had stuff in the oven, I decided to clean up my coffee station. It isn’t anywhere near finished or put together but it definitely looks nicer than it did.
By the time all that was said and done and the dishes were finished it was time for dinner and winding down for the evening. Damiean and I grabbed some dinner and then headed to bed!
What did you do this weekend? Do you have anything fun planned for this week or upcoming weekend?
